Brita™ For Your Hot Tub
Minerals are not only good for your body; they’re good for your hot tub! Did you know Spa Mineral Cartridges use silver and zinc to kill bacteria? Just like a Brita™ removes impurities from your drinking water, so does the Mineral Cartridge. As water passes through the Mineral Cartridge, the silver and zinc grab on to the bacteria like a magnet, and instantly kill the bacteria. The Mineral Cartridge coupled with your Ozonator reduces the amount
of chlorine necessary by up to 70%. Less chlorine means smoother, more comfortable water and less harsh chemical odor. Each Mineral Cartridge lasts for 4-6 months! It’s the natural way to clean water.
Filter Maintenance: A Must
The first step in keeping your spa crystal clear is the filtration system. The main component of this is the filter cartridge. Spas with a recirculation pump circulate water through the cartridges 24 hours a day. A hot tub without a recirculation pump will filter when the tub is in the filter cycle, and whenever your jets are running (check your owner’s manual to determine how often and how to set your filter cycles). These cartridges are
removing algae, bacteria, hair, body oils, dead skin, bugs, dissolved solids, etc. – Sounds disgusting, doesn’t it? It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it!Here are some helpful hints to keep your cartridges working at their optimum.
1) Replace filters:
· Annually
· If discolored. The filter should be white.
· If the top or bottom is cracked.
· If the fins look “furry”
2) Rinse filter monthly, or after heavy usage of the tub.
3) Chemically clean filter every other month. Use Quantum Insta-Rinse spray-on filter
cleaner.
4) Use a Sun-Sorb waterline control sponge. It will absorb body oils, lotions, etc. that cut
down on filter efficiency and cause foaming.
5) Make sure to maintain proper water chemistry at all times. Filters are good but they
don’t kill bacteria or algae - they only trap them.
6) It’s a good idea to have two sets of cartridges and use them on an alternating basis.
While one set is being cleaned and dried, the other set can be put into use.
7) Make sure swimsuits are rinsed clean. It’s best not to use fabric softeners on
swimsuits. They can leave a residue that can clog the cartridge and cause foaming in
the tub.
A clean filter reduces chemical consumption and promotes heater efficiency. Think of it this way, you wouldn’t drive your car without changing the oil filter – you shouldn’t use your hot tub without changing its filter either.
Lock-in The Heat!
The number one way to maintain your hot tub’s energy efficiency and save you money is to replace your spa cover. Most should be replaced after 5 years of abuse from the elements including rain, snow, sun, etc. As covers get older, they tend to become heavier and heavier, and may even break under their own weight! Heavy covers can also bow in the center, which then raises the outer edges of the cover, not allowing it to seal tightly to the tub

Need help getting that spa cover on and off? We carry a full line of cover lifters, which make it easier for one person to easily remove and re-install the hot tub cover.
Extend the life of your new spa cover with a thermal floating cover. They float on the surface of the water keeping the heat and moisture in the water and off the cover. As steam rises from the water, it condenses on the underside of the cover which eventually "water logs" the cover making it heavier.
